Your data at GoTech
Questions and anonymous usage
Question text, context and follow-ups are processed to answer you and are not retained in the application. Anonymous first-party events record page paths, answer outcomes, lesson and video interactions. Events do not include question text, query strings, VINs, names, email addresses or raw IP addresses. Events expire after 30 days.
Browser storage and hosting
A random session identifier and limited YouTube campaign categories use session storage. Learning progress stays in your browser. Reading and using Ask on this site does not require an account. Hosting and network providers process request metadata for delivery and security; this is separate from application question retention.
Video and commercial links
YouTube players load only after you press play. YouTube then receives requests under its own policies. Original affiliate links remain disclosed; GoTech may earn a commission when you follow them and buy. No display advertising runs on Ask or Learn, and no new affiliate experiment is enabled.
Existing privacy policy · Terms
For visible not-found pages, first-party measurements can include an allowlisted public or historical path and an allowlisted internal referring page. Unrecognized paths are redacted. Query strings, fragments, IP addresses and raw referrers are not stored in these diagnostic events. These categories do not identify people or establish whether a request came from a bot. The existing 30-day retention limit applies.
First-party navigation measurements count clicks on approved links, their page location, and whether an internal destination was later observed in the same temporary tab session. Approved external website clicks, downloads, and email or telephone actions are counted without confirming arrival or an exit. Events contain fixed public link identifiers, not raw URL parameters, question text, email addresses or telephone numbers. Reporting shows aggregate paths, never individual visitor histories. The existing 30-day retention limit applies.
First-party measurements include visible-page and estimated active time, content and button exposure, approved clicks, playback intervals, search-result counts, optional fixed-choice feedback and numeric performance measurements. Search terms, form contents, error messages and individual browsing histories are not shown in reporting. Raw events use the existing 30-day retention window; separately saved aggregate reports have their own stated retention period.
