Steps to Replace GM V8 Engine Oil Pressure Sensor
- Open the hood and loosen the engine cover bolt using an 8 mm socket - Watch
- Remove the engine cover by lifting up and releasing the rear tabs - Watch
- Locate the engine oil pressure sensor on the back or firewall side of the engine and unplug the sensor connector - Watch

- Using the special socket and an extension with a wobble or universal adapter remove the old sensor - Watch
- Inspect the filter screen located in the engine oil pressure port for any restrictions. Replace or clean screen if dirty - Watch
Tip: Older models may not be equipped with a filter screen
- Check that the correct washer and thread sealer applied to the new sensor - Watch
- Install the new sensor being careful to align threads correctly. Turn in sensor by hand until in seats against the engine - Watch
- Torque sensor to 22 Ft Lbs - Watch
- Plug in sensor and start engine. Check the sensor for any oil leaks before re-installing engine cover - Watch
